The work of the Church continues; it did not cease when the original disciples died. If we would like to grow the Church by 100 missions in the next ten years (a goal we are already on the way to achieving), then we need to double the amount of money going to missions. Throughout the remainder of the history of the early church, this mission continues to play out. Perhaps we can feed or clothe someone in need, or give shelter to a homeless person. We avoid egoism and give God His rightful glory by remembering that we can take up our cross only because God first reaches out to us and gives us the needed strength to do so. At first the job of the apostles, the Church's mission has passed to each generation of God's people. âWe seek to make contact with families that are not involved in the parish. "Participating in Godâs missionâ looks different in different places, and different times, and with different people. Therefore, from the beginning of the church in Acts 2, we see the church set out to fulfill its Great Commission mission to make disciples. There is truly no separation or division between the mission of the local church and missions in the uttermost part of the world. There are ways to help with VBS without being front and center. Jesus promised to be with His followers as they accomplished that work until He returns at ⦠With this in mind, we want to share five things that your churchâregardless of size, location, or situationâcan do to get involved in Godâs global mission. And Paulâs mission is the same as the churchâs mission, and it is still our mission today. Even with limited resources, your church can foster a missions movement. The same Spirit who empowers us for ministry is the One who immersed us into the church at the moment of our conversion (1 Cor 12:13) so that we might engage in our mission ⦠The Catholic Churchâs mission is to carry out and continue the work of Jesus Christ on Earth. The Church, and those in it, must: Instead of just being a Church that welcomes and receives, we try to be a Church that comes out of itself and goes to the men and women who do not participate in parish life, do not know much about it and are indifferent towards it. Teach When we pay our tithes and offerings, we are helping to build the kingdom. As this occurs, the mission truthfully becomes a co-mission. Ask your pastor to help you find the best class suited for your teaching abilities. Wherever, and whenever, the restoring, reconciling love of God in Christ through the Holy Spirit breaks into the world to âmake all things new", there is Godâs mission. This gives them one less thing to worry about when dealing with so many other needs and emotions. Let us never see the needs of foreign missions and missionaries as competitive to the ministry of the local church. If your church is not involved in global outreach, here are a few ideas for you and your church leadership to prayerfully consider: 1. The sacramental life of the Church is the superlative source for experiencing Godâs saving power and receiving the grace necessary to continue Christâs mission. Mission of the Church Evangelisation. Need a church? We are co-laborers in Christ! Once we grasp that we must be involved in missions, the question becomes how. We all have possessions that we can use to build the kingdom of God. What does it mean to participate in God's mission? If we can increase our funding, then we can increase the number of missions that participate in this valuable program. How we respond to this crisis will go a long way to determine if there is an evangelicalism moving forward.â In other words, now is the time for the church to be the church. There may be times when we will be asked to give more, and to make greater sacrifices to further the Lordâs work. 1. Pastors and church leaders, help your people see Godâs heart for the world in his Word, and let that Word shape and inform how your people live in the world. Ed Stetzer wrote recently, âWe have reached that time when we are either going to live up to the words or we must stop talking about kingdom mission and evangelism.
